Jorge Saenz De Viteri, MSEd

Jorge Saenz De Viteri is a dynamic leader with proven executive leadership experience that has strong analytical skills.  He is able to quickly assess situations, identify trends, develop solutions and apply critical assessment in a larger context.

Mr. Saenz De Viteri is currently the Regional Training and Technical Assistance (TTA) Coordinator for the Office of Head Start/ACF Region II. He leads a remote team of highly experienced and knowledgeable professionals who are responsible for providing TTA to Head Start grantee staff across New York, New Jersey, Puerto Rico, and the U.S Virgin Islands. Jorge is a member of the Office of Head Start (OHS) National TTA Steering Committee whose purpose is to provide OHS with a vehicle to support the development and implementation of a coordinated TTA system that is responsive to multiple stakeholders. In this role, he works with the Office of Head Start and the OHS National Centers to develop culturally, and linguistically responsive materials and resources.

During his career, he has held several positions that have enabled him to address the needs of young children and their families. He has taught in early childhood classrooms and managed private and publicly funded early care and education programs. These programs include Infant/Toddler, Child Care, Head Start, State-funded Pre-School, Family Child Care, and School-Age Programs with diverse funding streams, multiple centers and learning environments.

Mr. Saenz De Viteri has been an adjunct professor in early childhood education at the graduate and undergraduate level and coordinated the Bi-lingual Child Care Certificate program leading to the nationally recognized Child Development Associate (CDA) credential. In his role as an Early Childhood Specialist with the OHS TTA Network, Jorge served as a member of the Subject Matter Expert (SME) group for the National Center on Parent, Family, and Community Engagement.

He currently serves in various leadership roles for several national, state, and local organizations where he addresses policy and program issues in early care and education and helps create innovative policies to improve the conditions for children and families.

Jorge serves on the New York City Citizen Review Panel for Child Protective Services, one of three panels in New York State whose members are authorized by law to examine the policies, procedures and practices of the State and social services districts and, where appropriate, specific cases. He has organized countywide events which promoted children’s safety and raised awareness around Child Abuse Maltreatment and Prevention.

Mr. Saenz De Viteri served as a member of NAEYC’s Council for the  Accreditation of Early Learning Programs and serves as co-facilitator of the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) Latino Interest Caucus. He also served as a member of NAEYC’s Latino Leadership Advisory Group.

Jorge is proud to be a founding member of the Latino Coalition for Early Care and Education (LCECE) and Past-President for the New York City and Palisades Association for the Education of Young Children. He served on the National Council of La Raza (NCLR) Advisory Group for the Latino Family Values Framework (LFVF) and on the Sembrando Semillas Training Plan.

Mr. Saenz De Viteri worked with PreK Now, a national public education and advocacy organization that advances high-quality, voluntary prekindergarten for all three and four-year-olds, to help launch a national media campaign to educate Latino families about the importance of Pre-school, Prekinder: Aprendiendo a aprender.

He was a founding member of the Bronx Early Childhood Leadership Advisory Group, a group convened by the former Bronx Borough President, Adolfo Carrion, to address early care and education issues in the Bronx. He served on NYC’s Administration for Children Services (ACS) Commissioner’s Task Force on Project Full Enrollment, ACS’s Child Care and Head Start Advisory Committee, was a member of the NYC’s City Council UPK Work Group and was the past Chairperson of the Child Care Council @ the City University of New York.

Mr. Saenz De Viteri has contributed to various media outlets addressing topics in ECE.  Jorge contributed to the SUNY Training Strategies video addressing Child Care Directors and Administrators in NYC on the importance of being mandated reporters and reporting suspected Child Abuse and Maltreatment. He contributed to  NAEYC’s HRM Journal (2008): Human Resources Management in Early Childhood Programs computer-based training series and the NAEYC-produced 2013 DVD, Reflections on Early Childhood Program Management.  He uses technology to build virtual professional learning communities of practice to keep early childhood professionals current on early care and education issues.

Jorge’s academic achievements include a master’s degree in Early Childhood Education from Lehman College of the City University of New York, a bachelor of arts degree from Manhattan College, and a NYS Department of Education N-6 teaching certificate.
